Carol was the youngest of four children and graduated from Roosevelt High School with the Class of 1943. She married James Frederick Geiger in Cedar Rapids on September 14, 1945.

Carol and James had three children, Kim [Schryver], Jim, and Dana [Strack].

She was an active volunteer for the League of Women Voters and was employed as a secretary with Planned Parenthood in Keokuk, Iowa, from 1965-1969. They moved to Marshalltown in 1969 where Carol volunteered at the hospital, Little League, and Republican Party.
