Couple Dies Within Hours of Each Other
Azusa (CA) -- Herman Henry Heinzel, 86, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, and his wife Mary Theresa (Mamie) Gerdes Heinzel, 82, died at 11 p.m. the same day. The couple died in Azusa. They were born and reared in Burlington.
They were married at St. John Catholic church, Burlington, April 19, 1910. Heinzel worked for Murray Iron Works, Burlington, until his retirement in 1954. The couple moved to California upon his retirement.
Surviving: One son, Paul, Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Margaret Rodgers, LaPalma, California; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Beckerman, West Burlington; and Mrs. Theresa Owens, Burlington. Double funeral arrangements are pending; they are being handled by Lakewood mortuary, Lakewood, California.
