Born Aug. 25, 1891, in Collinsville, he was son of the late William and Anna Frieg Martin.
Mr. Martin was married to the former Annis Kendall on Aug. 18, 1915, in East St. Louis. Mrs. Martin died Aug. 11, 1961.
Mr. Martin was first employed by the Edwardsville National Bank in 1918, as an assistant cashier. He retired as Executive Vice President of the bank in February 1965.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the bank and of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Edwardsville.
He was a member of the Edwardsville Sportmen's Club and St. John Methodist Church in Edwardsville.
He is survived by a son William L. Martin of Chesterfield, Mo., a daughter, Mrs. Earle (Beverly) Ingels of Summit, N.J., and a sister, Mrs. W. [Walter (Lenora Elizabeth)] K. [Kern] Lepp of Decatur.
Friends may call at the Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville after 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral, to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of St. John's Methodist Church.
Officiating will be the Rev. James Nettleton, pastor of the church.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
