Prominent Farmer Dies In Home Near Here; Funeral To Be Held On Thursday
The second victim of the prolonged heat wave in Cass county was Henry C. Stuke, 72, life long resident of this community, who died at 11 o’clock last night at the Stuke farm home, situated 6 1/2 miles north east of this city. Mr. Stuke had been in poor health for some time, but visited in Beardstown yesterday. Members of the family attributed the intense heat as at least a contributory cause of death.
The body was taken to the Cline Funeral Home to be prepared for burial.
Funeral services will be Thursday.
The decedent was born in Cass county and was a prominent and able farmer. He was never married.
Surviving are his brothers, John who lives on the farm, Ed of Beardstown and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Niestradt also of Beardstown. A sister, Mrs. Charles Blume preceded him in death several years ago.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
