Jens Michael "Mike" Neilsen (born Nielsen) was born in Sønderlyng, Viborg, Denmark to Jens Christian Nielsen and Kristine Christensen. He was the fourth of nine children born to this marriage. He immigrated to the United States in 1906 and lived in Alaska and Seattle, Washington before settling in Berkeley, California. He was married twice. The first marriage was to Christine Cecil Peterson and there was one child born to this marriage, Eleanora Christine (born 1925). His 2nd marriage was to Effie Gladys Hetrick and there was one child born to this marriage, Norita Pearl (born 1935). He and his brothers all worked as blacksmiths and Mike owned a company called Neilsen Ornamental. He passed away in Seattle, Washington while visiting family. Mike has six grandchildren: Maureen, Michael, Christopher, David, Danielle, and Gary.
