A daughter of the late Carl John and Frieda Emma Knapp Gleim. Catherine was a lifelong member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Powellsville. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having graduated from the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association. Catherine worked at Mercy Hospital for several years and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death Oct.6, 1997 by her husband Alfred Henry Staker, whom she married in Powellsville on Jul. 8, 1950.
Surviving Catherine are three sons; Carl Henry Staker of Cincinnati, Norman Eugene (Joyce) Staker of Franklin Furnace, Herbert Alan Staker of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Brenda Catherine (George) Moore of Franklin Furnace and Cheryl Freida (John) Crank of Franklin Furnace; one brother, Donald Gleim, Sr. of Franklin Furnace; two sisters, Martha Williams of Portsmouth and Joyce Maggard of Franklin Furnace; four grandchildren, Alison (Mike) Sampson, Heath (Lauri) Moore, Kristi (Ryan) Darnell, Garrett (Sarah) Staker and seven great-grandchildren; Kirsten and Evan Sampson, Lila, Arlo and Birdie Moore and Tyler and Trevor Darnell. Also preceding Catherine in death were her two sisters; Velma Toler and Juanita Braden.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Janet Hatch officiating. Interment will follow the St. John Cemetery.
