Mrs. Sophie Thoene Dies at Normal Home
Mrs. Sophie Thoene, 85, of 208 West Ash street, Normal, died at 3:15 p. m. Saturday at her home, She had been an invalid lor tne last seven years. Funeral services will be at 3 p. m. Monday at the Normal Presbyter ian church. The body will be sent to Dubuque, la., for services and burial there Tuesday. Sophie Baacke Thoene was born ent. 19. 1854. in Harpke. near Brunswick, Germany. She married Diedrich Thoene in Brunswick, Germany, and came to the United States with him, the couple settling at Dubuque. Ia. For the last 20 years she had lived in Normal. Surviving are three daughters, Miss Christine Thoene, member of th faculty of Illinois State Normal university, with whom she made her home, Sister Marie, Wadena, Minn., and Miss Frieda O. Thoene, Dallas, Tex. Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
