J.H. BROWN CALLED TO FINAL REWARD

James Huston Brown, son of Robert Allen and Nancy Wardlow Brown, was born Oct. 22, 1866 in Brown Co. Ohio. He was the youngest of nine children, all of whom have preceded him in death.

He came to Ulysses, Nebr. in 1898 where he was engaged in farming until 1910.

He was married Feb. 24, 1910 to Carrie Crapenhoft. They moved to Litchfield at this time, and have resided here since then. To this union were born three sons, two of whom passed away in infancy. Roscoe, the youngest, is left with his mother to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.

A little over three years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke which left him an invalid; he suffered a fatal attack from which he passed away Nov. 25, 1939 at the age of 73 years, 1 month and three days.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. A.W. Johnson of Minden assisted by Rev. Lois Payne. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. B.B. Grice, Mrs. Cecil Brundige, Mr. H.E. Mosgrove, and Mr. Chas. Wolford, sang three beautiful hymns. Interment was made in Litchfield cemetery.

Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Palmer, Gilbert Stiver, Mrs. Robert Brown and Mr. Brock of Ulysses, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Crapenhoft of Surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riggle of Gibbon and Rev. and Mrs. A.W. Johnson of Minden.
