Son of Eli and Kate (Roth) Opel.

Oren served in World War II, posted at Ft. Lewis, Camp Carson and Ft. Hale where he trained for both a military ski unit and working on jeeps, trucks and other equipment, being sent to the Aleutian Islands in a campaign to clear the Island of Attu and Kiska.

He married Dorothy Sylvester in Lebanon, Oregon on June 29 1946.

Preceding him death was a brother, Leonard.
