The following obituary appeared in "The Punxsutawney Spirit" (Punxsutawney, PA) on Friday, March 18, 1949, page 1, column 7:

H. Dale Grube, 63, Of R. D. 2, Is Dead

H. Dale Grube, a native of the Grube Settlement, died early this morning in his home on Punxsutawney R. D. 2 following an illness of eleven months. He was 63 years of age. He was well known here as a painter and carpenter.

The deceased was born in Bell Township October 14, 1885, the son of Silas and Martha (Frederick) Grube. For a time he resided in Leechburg, where he was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He had lived in his present home the past 17 years.

He leaves his wife, the former Mrs. Maude Bowers, two daughters by his first time: Mrs.

Mildred Lydie [sic], of New Kensington, and Mrs. Velma Redding, of Carnegie, and four brothers: George P., of Punxsutawney; Blair, of Cloe; Meigs, of Akron, Ohio, and Edward [sic] Grube, of Florida. Also surviving are these step children: Dee Bowser, of Valier; Raymond Bowser, of Springdale; Paul and Harold, of this city; Mrs. Clara Bell Boring, of Alliance, Ohio; Mrs. Noble Depp, of Cloe, and Mrs. George Kemp, of Wilmerdale.

Funeral services will be held in the Morrison Funeral Home here Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with burial in the Carey Cemetery.
