Sarah and her husband left Scotland to retreive the remains of Major Duncan Campbell of the Highland Reg who was killed July 17, 1758 during a frontal attack on the French at Ft. Ticonderoga (Carillon). Sarah's husband died during the Atlantic crossing and Sarah with more than 80,000 dollars settled at Fort Edward, NY. Sarah was also related to Gen. Fraser, killed during the Battle of Saratoga when Burgoyne was defeated by Gen. Gates. Sarah offered her home to Jane McCrea and they became close friends prior to Jane's death. Jane was killed by Indians sent to escort her to Gen. Fraser's line to meet her intended husband. When Sarah died she was buried next to Jane McCrea and Major Duncan Campbell.
