Passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, March 28th, 2016. Berthold Adolf Liske, of Mount Forest and formerly of Mayo, Yukon, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Claudette (Redfearn). Dear brother of Nori Ziegler and Wolfgang Liske both of Germany. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Germany. Brother-in-law of Michael Redfearn and his wife Michelle, Anne and her husband John Grobbo, and Penny and her husband Pat Pietrantonio. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Hans and Hartmut Liske and his sisters Gudrun and Christel Liske. Bert Liske was born in Albrechtswiesen, Germany and emigrated from Germany to Canada at a young age, arriving in Quebec City on his 21st birthday. Bert was a miner, he mined in British Columbia, Elliot Lake and the Yukon. He had a love for gold mining, which he did with his good friends and partners Ralph Barchen and Bob Meyer. Bert an avid skier was on the Yukon ski team and participated in the first Canadian Winter Games held in Quebec. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bert’s life will be held at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Monday, April 4th at 1 p.m., with visitation prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
