Mr. Prigge, 77, of 1414 Ninth St. N.E., a retired restaurant cook, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Saint Marys Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Olmsted County, where he grew up and attended Rochester schools. In 1943, he joined the Navy, was a cook on various ships during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of CS1. He returned to Rochester after his discharge from active duty in 1963 and remained in the reserves until 1973. On March 19, 1961, he married Joan Plank at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mr. Prigge was a cook at Richard's Roost, then at Holiday Inn South for 14 years and at Finne's Restaurant until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Post 92 and The Lone Sailor. His interests included playing cards, fishing, reading and spectator sports.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Tarry (Ashley) Samsel of Bean Station, Tenn., and Margaret Axford and Lois Huey, both of Rochester; a son, Joseph of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald (Phyllis) of Rochester, Walter (Joan) of Byron, Kenneth (Dorothy) of Bemidji, Minn., and William (LaMae) of Zumbrota; and a sister, Helen (David) Miller of Rochester.
