Funeral Mass for Gary R. "Red" Speth, 82, Clarksville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the St. Joseph Hill Campus / St. Paul II Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. He passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
He was a native of St. Joe, and was a member St. Augustine Catholic Church, Jeffersonville. He was in the U.S. Naval Reserves. During his time at S&S Marine in Clarksville he was a pioneer of the boating and motorcycle industry in Southern Indiana. He moved on to the real estate business and was actively involved in numerous business ventures.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Rick Speth (Shannon) Georgetown, David Isaac Speth, Clarksville, Tony Farnsley, New Albany, Terry Farnsley (Melissa), New Albany, and Shawn Speth (Kim), Memphis; daughters, Tammy and Lori Speth, Clarksville; brother, Mark Speth (Judy), Elkhart; sisters, Glorian Faith (Bill), New Albany, Kathleen Voyles, Jeffersonville, Jo Jones (Chuck), Jeffersonville, Nancy Hoerter (Jim), Bardstown, Ky., Karen Hester (David), Florida and Brenda Sweet (Steve), New Albany; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Speth, daughter, Christa Speth, grandson, Ricky Lee Rake, parents, Richard and Irene Speth, and brothers, George and Paul Speth.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, 1846 E. Oak St., New Albany.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
