JOHNSTON CITY - Robert Szymanowski, 82, of Johnston City went to be with the Lord at 6:50 a.m. Sunday Sept. 17, 2006, at his family home. A memorial service is pending at First Baptist Church in Johnston City, with Rev. Larry Stevens officiating. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Johnston City, 401 E. Seventh St., Johnston City, IL 62951. Robert was born March 11, 1924, in Chicago, the son of Walter and Mary (Zimny) Szymanowski . He married Virginia Jaskowiak who survives. Robert was a retired woodworker. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Army. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago. He is survived by one daughter, Roberta Szymanowski and husband, Gregory Mowinski, of Johnston City; and one sister, Dorothy Siemieniec of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Porkuski.
