Mrs. Daisy Belle Hedrick Stamey, 98, a resident of Morningside of Concord, and formerly of Thomasville, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the assisted living center.
She was born on October 18, 1917 in Davidson County, NC to the late David Eli Hedrick and Lula Kennedy Hedrick.
She retired from Erwin Lambeth in Thomasville and was a member of West End United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ransom Verlo Stamey on February 9, 2006, whom she married on April 30, 1938; sisters, Alice Eddinger, Lillie Hedrick, Annice Leach, and Minnie Dorsett; and brothers, Taft Hedrick, William Hedrick, and Lloyd Hedrick.
Surviving are her sons, Roy Lee Stamey and wife Elaine Cook Stamey of Concord, NC and Herbert Ivan Stamey and wife Nancy Hinshaw Stamey of Charleston, SC; sister, Margie Hedrick Waddell of Thomasville; three granddaughters, Kimberly D. Stamey of Concord, Janna Stamey Mitchell and husband Joe of Concord, and Jennifer Stamey Ellis and husband James of Garner; one grandson, Craig Stamey and wife Cathy Varn Stamey of Charleston, SC; great-granddaughters, Emily Claire Mitchell and Allison Elizabeth Mitchell, and great-grandsons, Tate Ransom Stamey and Ethan Alexander Stamey. Mrs. Stamey loved her family including her many nieces and nephews and all of their children and grandchildren, the neighbors and friends in Thomasville and the members past and present of West End UMC in Thomasville.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
