Marian Massey

Marian Louise Massey, 70, of Burlington, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at her home.

Born June 28, 1928, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter W. and Dorothy Schoelkopf Behne. On April 24, 1945, she married Gene Massey in Burlington.

Mrs. Massey worked as an inspector at Champion Spark Plug of Burlington for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a lifelong member and elder of First United Church of Christ of Burlington, and member and past worthy matron of E.C. Blackmar Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of Consistory, past Matron Club and Grand Closs of Colors.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Pamela Vorwerk of Mesquite, Texas, and Debbie Miller and Stacey Wachter, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Sunday at Sheagren Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends following a 7 p.m. E.C. Blackmar Chapter Order of the Eastern Star service until 9 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Massey will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to First United Church of Christ.
