DANNEBROG - Edward C. Carstens, 85, of Dannebrog died Sunday at a Grand Island hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul with the Rev. Irvin Briese officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island.

Mr. Carstens was born Aug. 25, 1897, near Rockville, the son of Jurgen and Dora Hoeck Carstens. He was educated at Rockville and then farmed on the family farm. On Feb. 19, 1924, he married Augusta Obermiller at St. Paul. They farmed the Carstens home place at Rockville, and later farmed at Farwell. In the early 1930's they moved to a farm in the Dannebrog area.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lenora Roebuck of Grand Island and Margie Carstens of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Dora Harvey of St. Paul and Mrs. Emma Lemburg of Grand Island, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Carstens was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
