CARTHAGE, Ill. – June Evelyn Geissler, 88, of Carthage, Ill., passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Montebello HeathCare Center in Hamilton, Ill.
June was born July 1, 1927, the daughter of William and Neva H. Brown Metternich in Keokuk.
She graduated from Nauvoo High School.
On Dec. 19, 1948, she was untied in marriage to William H. Geissler in Tipton. He preceded her in death.
June was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage for many years, and taught Sunday school and Bible school.
She enjoyed fishing, flowers and spending time with her family.
June is survived by seven children, Vicki (Randy) Campbell of Hamilton, Cindy (Jeff) Harris of Yuma, Ariz., Jerry (Kathy) Geissler of Basco, Ill., William (Teresa) Geissler of Warsaw, Ill., Donnie Geissler of Carthage, Randy (Sarah) Geissler of LaHarpe, Ill., and Dennis (Lisa) Geissler of Basco; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Metternich of Quincy, Ill.; and sister, Jane Kelly of Carthage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and a son, Robert.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Monday) at Elvaston Community Church, with the Rev. Doug Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.
Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
