James H. Abbott, 88, of Mason, Ohio and formerly of Findlay, died on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his residence.

Jim was born to Gertrude and John Abbott in Marion, OH on March 3, 1926.

He attended Marion Public Schools until his high school years, when the family moved to Sidney, OH. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1944.

Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and became an air cadet. He attended Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH, where he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

As a result of his interest in a magazine article he’d read about oil exploration in the Sahara desert, Jim went to work for the Ohio Oil Company (Marathon) in Findlay, OH. He was a Marathon employee for forty years, mostly in Human Resources and college recruiting.

In 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann McLean, who survives him, along with their three children, Carol Ann, Jon Frederick (Claudia), and James Mark (Lisa) and four grandchildren, Andrew McLean, Kara Corinne, Ashley Nicole, and Grant Matthew.

In 2005 Jim and his wife moved from Findlay to Mason Christian Village in the Cincinnati area. He was a fifty-year member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Findlay and a lifelong member of Stumps International. For the past ten years Jim has been a member of Sycamore Presbyterian Church in Cincinnatti.
