William S Petre, 85, of 355 West North Street, retired shoe worker, died last night at Carlisle Hospital.
He resided with his daughter, Mrs Charles Hays, 355 West North Street, for the past 14 years and worked at the Lindner Shoe Company and the Bedford Shoe Company before retiring many years ago. He was a member of the First Evangelical Untied Brethren Church and Sunday School.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by three sons, Frank Petre, Carlisle; John Petre, Akron, Ohio, and E Biddle Petre, Carlisle RD3; a sister, Mrs John Toomey, Carlisle, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 in the Lutz-Hoffman Funeral Home, with Rev Joseph H Miller and Rev Dr Simpson B Daughterty officiating. Burial will be in Kutz's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday night at the funeral home.

William's first wife was to Nora A Green in December 1887, daughter of James & Catherine Green. William states he was 21, son of Peter and Margaret McClintock Petre. Nora later married Charles O Lintner in 1912. Nora states in her marriage license to Mr Lintner that she was divorced from prior husband May 9, 1893.

William S Petre, 26, son of Margaret Petre, and Lula V Metz, 25, daughter of John & Margaret Metz, were married July 4, 1893, in Chambersburg, PA. William states he was divorced from prior wife on May 9, 1893, in Cumberland Co, PA.

William S Petre, now a widower stating his prior wife died Nov 4, 1916, is aged 50, son of Peter & Margaret Fenncal [sic] Petre, married Mary A Hays, age 46, not previously married, daughter of Jessie R and Rebecca Albert Hays. Both Wlliam and Mary are shoemakers by occupation. They were married April 28, 1917, in Carlisle.
