In Memory of Les Clemente
July 13, 1948 - April 29, 2016

Les Paul Clemente, 67, passed away in the arms of his daughters and wife on April 29, 2016 after complications from an 11 year battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer.

Les was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a 1966 graduate from Twinsburg High School where he was a varsity member of the baseball and wrestling teams. Les served as an Army Intelligence officer during the Vietnam War. Les lived most of his life in Akron where he started his family and founded IPR Builders later renamed to American Wood Reface.

Les was known for his love of his children and animals, his unsolicited opinion, strong work ethic, quick wit, sharp looks, and (often inappropriate) humor. Les loved meeting and talking with people, which contributed to his success in business. Although he had a feisty personality, his generosity was unparalleled and Les was as genuine as they come.

In 2005, Les was diagnosed with cancer attributed to agent orange exposure while serving in Vietnam. His strength and tenacity pushed him through two bone marrow transplants, countless chemo treatments, and the side effects of countless medicines. After a terrible bout with pneumonia in February 2016, the family was told Les would not make it out of the hospital alive--he walked out less than a week later. Les defied the odds throughout his entire life and fought with everything he had until his very last breath.

Preceded in death by his infant son Kyle Paul Clemente, his parents Vivian Lewis and Joseph Clemente, parents-in-law James and Patricia Thomas, brothers-in-law Duane Sherman and Patrick Thomas. He is survived by his wife Janette Clemente, daughters Krystal Ahmed (Kassim) and Kelly Clemente, grandchildren Cruz Clemente and Sofia Ahmed, brother and best friend Daniel Lewis (Kim), sisters Carol Lewis (Dawn) and Roxanne Lewis, brother Robert Clemente and extended family including Michael Rath, numerous uncles, cousins, in laws, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to send special thanks to Pearl Sherman, Juli and Jason Hicks, Paul Thomas, Richard Mehok, Carolyn Hollis, and Cathy Whitman. Also, thank you to Ronald Sobecks, MD, Beth Faiman, CNP and Kim Hamilton, CNP of Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute and Anthony Cucci, MD of Akron General Hospital Critical Care Medicine.

Services will be held at Catavolos Funeral Home located at 3653 W. Market St. Akron, OH 44333. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 5 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM and funeral services will be Friday, May 6 at 11:00AM. Military Funeral Honors will be held at his final resting place, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Les' honor to the ASPCA, Wounded Warrior Project, or Akron Children's Hospital Unit 7200.
