EDWARDSBURG, MI. — Makayla Rose McKenzie, 16, of Christianna Lake, Edwardsburg, passed to her eternal life Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the scene of an auto accident at Dailey Road and Pine Lake Street, Edwardsburg.
She was born June 17, 1999, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Michael and Jennifer McKenzie.
Makayla was a junior at Edwardsburg High School. She was also attending Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. Makayla loved being involved in youth groups and church activities, theater, voice, dance, art, camp and pageants.
In everything that she did and wherever she went, she dedicated her life to serving Jesus. Countless lives were touched by her amazing personality and fun-loving spirit.
Makayla is survived by her parents, Michael and Jennifer McKenzie of Edwardsburg, and her sister, Hope (Justin) Sabin. She has maternal grandparents, Ron Ravenscroft and his wife, Virginia, and Susan Miklik and her husband, David.
Family and friends gathered from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Northside Baptist Church, 53198 C.R. 9, Elkhart. The service of Rremembrance was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the church, where family and friends gathered for two hours before the service. Officiating was the Rev. Carl Henry, pastor of the church. Interment followed in the Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg.
