Elizabeth Margaret Kleffner Griffith, age 93, of Jefferson City, formerly of Brinktown, departed this life Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at her residence in Jefferson City. She was born June 16, 1913, at Argyle, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Koerber Steinmann. Mrs. Griffith had attained the age of 93 years, four months, and one day.

She was first united in marriage on August 16, 1937, at Brinktown, to Lawrence Stephen Kleffner and to this union eight children were born. Mr. Kleffner preceded his wife in death on July 9, 1969. She was later united in marriage on March 23, 1990, at Dixon, to Adolph Griffith who preceded her in death on October 12, 1998. Mrs. Griffith was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Jefferson City, the St. Ann's Sodality of the Guardian Angels Church, Brinktown; the Brinktown Ladies Club, the Vienna Senior Citizens Center, and the Hyder Senior Citizens Center, Jefferson City; as well as being a devoted housewife and homemaker. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Kleffner Griffith include: four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sharon Kleffner, Brinktown; Thomas and Loretta Kleffner, St. Charles; John and Linda Kleffner, Wardsville; Jerome and Donna Kleffner, Ballwin; four daughters and sons-in-laws, Betty and Ray Winkelman, Ashland; Alice Robertson, Jefferson City; Cathy Allen, Jefferson City; Donna and Dave Schwartze, Arygle; three step-sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Pat Griffith, Belle; Gary and Brenda Griffith, Bland; Mike and Joyce Griffith, Belle; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Martin Jones, Belle; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Kleffner, St. Peters; Agnes Buchheit, Arnold; 22 grandchildren; Paul Kleffner, Larry Kleffner, Lisa Johnson, Russell Kleffner, Michael Kleffner, Cindy Harmon, Michelle Garrett, Brenda Duncan, Tina Krumpelman, Sheila Ulmer, Pam Rose, Julie Stratman, Jennifer Runge, Suzette Mertens, Amy Luebbert, Melissa Kleffner-Wansing, Jason Kleffner, Albert Allen, Aaron Allen, Chad Schwartze, Matthew Schwartze, Casey Schwartze; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren anticipated; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Heiman; two sisters, Marie Redel and Thresa Heiman; one son-in-law, DeWane Robertson; one great-granddaughter, Haley Rose; and three step-granddaughters, Sherry Pracht, Tina Griffith, and Kara Loughridge.

A prayer service will be held for Mrs. Kleffner Griffith at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 19, 2006, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with Msgr. Marion Makarewicz leading. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Kleffner Griffith at 11:00 a.m., on Friday morning, October 20, 2006, in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, with Msgr. Marion Makarewicz officiating..

Interment will be in the Guardian Angels Cemetery, Brinktown, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Masses or wishes of the family are preferred with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
