Fred G. Showman, 51, of Sabetha died Friday evening, March 4, 2005, at the Sabetha Community Hospital after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born at Sabetha on April 27, 1953, the son of Emery L. and Alice Isabel Rooney Showman. He graduated from Sabetha High School in 1971 and attended Washburn University and Kansas University.
Mr. Showman married Marilyn Ann Henry at Wetmore on July 27, 1974. She survives of Sabetha.
He owned and operated Fred's Small Engine in Topeka, before moving to Kansas City due to health reasons. He worked as a machinist in Fairview and later as a real estate broker in Sabetha.
Mr. Showman served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Fairview-Walnut Township. He served his community on the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha.
Other survivors include a son, Shawn F. Showman of Lawrence and his mother, Isabel Showman of Sabetha.
His father, Emery L. Showman, preceded him in heath.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. Cremation followed.
