Elmer Henry Erbes was born July 18, 1911 at Hartley, Iowa, the son of Carl Erbes and wife Elizabeth, born Hennings. He was haptized the 22nd of Oct. of same year and was growing up, the joy of his parents.
Their happiness was suddenly clouded when unexpectedly and like a dream their little boy met with this fatal accident. He fell from an Auto Truck striking his temple in such a manner that he was instantly killed, reaching the age of 3 years, 8 months and 28 days.
This is a sad blow to the bereaved parents and they have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. This little life was short in this world but God in His wisdom saw fit to call him home to a better land where sorrow is no more. May we strive to live such a life that we, too, may be called to our reward to greet again all the blessed who have gone on before.
Mr. Erbes is employed at Canton, S. D., by the railroad company. The little remains were brought to Hartley on Saturday and funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon from the Senior Erbes home, Rev. Fischer conducting the services.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the parents in this their sad hour of bereavement. The parents left for their home on Monday night, while the kindest feelings from a host of friends follow them.
