John J. Mikula, 96, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016. A proud WWII Army Air Force veteran, he served overseas for more than two years. That and stateside training was the only time he was away from LaSalle (where he was born) for more than a few weeks. An avid Niagara Falls supporter, he lobbied to have the former Century Club property become what is today - the LaSalle Waterfront Park.
Visitation will be held Saturday (May 21) after 10 AM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls where prayers will be said at 12 noon followed by a mass of Christian burial at 12:30 at St. Vincent de Paul Prince of Peace church with the Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. The interment with Military Honors will follow at North Ridge Cemetery.
He is loved by daughters, Susan Mikula Campbell, Patricia (Charles E.) Keppler, Christine (Sam) Trapasso and Peggy (Mark Trane) Mikula; a son, John A. Mikula; grandchildren, Colin A. Campbell III, Casey Keppler, Kristie (Matthew) Keppler Mills, Charles E. Keppler III, Jessica Trapasso; McElveen and Sammy Trapasso.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Alzheimer's research in Johnny's memory or to ovarian cancer research in memory of his wife, Pearl, who died in 1993.
