Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church for Martin Dierks, 78, who died Monday at Riverview Manor in Flandreau, SD, the Rev J K Raetler officated at the service.

Martin Dierks was born April 1, 1904 at Pecatonica, IL, to Fred and Bertha Kubberness Dierks. He came as an infant with his parents to a farm in Moody County, northwest of Flandreau, SD. He was educated in rural schools and then started farming with his father. He was married September 14, 1926 to Lillian Benedict at Flandreau and they continued to farm in the same place until retiring from farming in 1970. He moved to a farm residence two miles east of Flandreau where he lilved until the fall of 1972 when he moved into Flandreau.

He is survived by three sons: Ralph, Omaha, NE; Richard, Champion, IL; and David, Orland Park, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Doretta Spangler, Flandreau; and Mrs. Dorothy Stimson, Park Forest, IL; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Fred, Salem, OR; and Ernest, Washburn, ND; and two sisters, Mrs. Almut Steinmeyer, Flandreau; and Dorothy Dierks, Flandreau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, Martin, and one brother.

Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Flandreau, SD.
