STELLA M. VRABEL

NEW CASTLE, PA. - Stella M. Vrabel, 87, of 45 High St., passed away the morning of June 17, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Stella was born Aug. 4, 1928, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Aleksy and Maryja Ulamek Krupa.

Stella married Andrew J. Vrabel Jr. He survives at home. They were married for 67 wonderful years.

Mrs. Vrabel was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1946. Stella was of the Roman Catholic faith, and was a member of the Mary Mother of Hope Parish. A devout Catholic, Stella would pray every morning and before she went to bed.

She also worked at the former Shenango China Company as a decorator. Stella served as an auditor of Union Township for many years. Mrs. Vrabel volunteered her time at the Union Township No. 4 voting poll for over 50 years and received an award for her years of service by the governor. Stella was a lifelong member of the former Madonna Church. She was the founder of the Union Township girls 9- to 10-years-old softball slow pitch softball league. Mrs. Vrabel enjoyed going dancing, listening to Polka music, playing bingo, and cards. Stella was an excellent cook, especially of Polish food she made with her children and grandchildren. Stella was known for her infectious laughter and caring spirit.

In addition to her husband, Andrew, she is survived by three children, Andrea L. (Alex) Domico of Port Orange, Fla., Dennis A. (Joann) Vrabel of New Castle, and Cheryl A. (Gerard) Golub of New Castle; sister Leona Leavens of Riva, Md.; four grandchildren, Alexis Domico, Alicia Domico, Micaela Golub, and Christian Golub; one stepgranddaughter, Kimberly Zombeck; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Domico and Cameron Domico; one stepgreat-grandson, Justin Zombeck.

Mrs. Vrabel was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William, Michael, Joseph, and Walter Krupa; and three sisters, Clara Sniezek, Helen Nycz, and Jessie Kuharski.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. in New Castle.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday morning, for the Mary Mother of Hope Parish, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Frank D. Almade, pastor of Mary Mother of Hope Parish will officiate.

Rite of Committal and burial will take place at Madonna Cemetery.
