Herbert L Storch

Today is an incredible day, one worth remembering and keeping near your heart, an era has come to an end. On November the 6th, in the year of our Lord 2006, Herbert L Storch has gone to join his belated wife Effie Mae Storch on that great dance floor in the sky.

Herbert, Pops to his grand and great grand children, was a strong willed some times forceful but fair man. He was a Christian as he believed in his Lord, while working as a Deacon and a Choir Director in his church for many years.

During the Second World War he enlisted in the Navy to do his part to honor and serve our country. Later upon returning to Austin, Texas, he worked many years for the State Comptrollers Office and finally retired from the Texas Railroad Commission. This retirement lead to new adventures for him and his wife as they traveled the United States in their camper trailer and made numerous new friends along the way. He spent 45 years as an usher for the University of Texas at Austin in the football stadium. He loved his longhorns!

Some of his greatest attributes where that he could wear a suit for days and still make it look good. He did various handyman projects for the church, build handmade wooden swings and other fine furniture in his wood shop behind his house. A scratch golfer in his younger years and his athleticism was always put to the test while playing with his grand children. All of these things he did well, but oh how the world watched when he and Mimi danced! Both were avid followers of ballroom dancing and could stop a crowd anywhere when the two got together. Sea World will never be the same!

He is survived by his son Karl Dennis Storch of Corsicana, Texas and his daughter Judy M. Anderson newly of Corpus Christi, Texas, his grandsons Christopher and Carlton Anderson, his granddaughters Echo and Erin Storch, and a slew of great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were Thursday, November 9th, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church at 50th and Evans. Burial followed at Cook-Walden Capital Memorial Gardens in Pflugerville. We Will Miss You! [Based on an obituary published in the Austin American-Statesman on 11/8/2006.]
