Sadie Clara Wesack, 102, was born November 29, 1913, the daughter of William Hartman and Anna Dorthea Christina (Huss) Wesack in Guthrie County, IA, and passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, in Atlantic, IA.

She was baptized June 18, 1914, by Rev. Deletze and confirmed on December 22, 1932, by Rev. Griesse, both at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guthrie County, IA, northwest of Adair, IA. Sadie graduated from the Adair High School in 1932. She served in the WACs (Women’s Army Corps) from January 1944 until August 22, 1945, at Camp Plauche, New Orleans, LA in the Transportation Corps. Sadie was discharged on “VJ” day to return home to care for her ill mother, her father and her brother Billy. She lived in Guthrie County until she moved to Adair in 1971.

Sadie was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church north of Adair. She was active as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, the choir and the Fellowship Club. She also was a 4-H leader, active in the Republican Party, charter member of VFW Auxiliary 8877 in Adair, the Adair Civic League and a board member of the Hillcrest Apartments in Adair.

Preceding Sadie in death were her parents, William and Anna Wesack; her brothers, John Wesack, Edwin Wesack, Henry Wesack in infancy, William “Billy” Wesack; her sisters, Marie Frederick, Catherine Pearson and her husband, Weimer, Annette Petri and her husband, Clarence; her nephew, John Pearson; and her nieces, Marjorie Wedemeyer and her husband, Leland, Marilyn Frederick and Barbara Fries; and her nephew-in-law, Verne Davidson.

Sadie is survived by her nieces, Norma Patterson of Springfield, OR, Berdina (Maynard) Jayne of Johnston, IA, Marsha (Pete) Franklin of Galax, VA, Rosemary Davidson of Atlantic, IA, Jane Petri of Adair, IA, and Mary Ellen Wright of Cedar Rapids, IA; several great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church north of Adair.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the start of the funeral service which will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 1, 2016. The visitation and funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church north of Adair.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery north of Adair.
