Herbert Louis Storch went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the age of 88. He was born September 12, 1918 in Waldeck, Texas. He was the only son of Valentine Carl and Emily Kunkel Storch. He grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas where he graduated from high school. He then attended business school in Austin, Texas. While in Austin, he met and married Effie Mae Feaster. They lived in Austin and moved to California for a period while Herbert served in the Navy during World War II. Effie Mae and Herbert had two children, Judy Mae Storch Anderson and Karl Dennis Storch.
Herbert and Mae established their home in Austin where they lived together for over 60 years. Herbert worked for a number of state agencies during his working career and retired from the state of Texas Railroad Commission after 37 years of service. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Austin for over 50 years. He served as the choir director and on numerous committees. He was a member of the Waltz Club, Knife and Fork Club, Kiwanas Club, the Masonic Lodge, and was a proud volunteer in the Reading is Fundamental program at Ridgetop Elementary School in Austin.

He was a master gardener, carpenter, golfer, dancer, and handyman. He shared his harvest and skills with others. Many dear widowed friends depended on Herb to help them in any way he could from repairing screens to changing light bulbs. He gardened, golfed, and danced until his double knee replacement surgery five years ago.

Herbert was a well loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Effie Mae. He is survived by his daughter Judy Mae Anderson of Corpus Christi, son Karl Dennis Storch and daughter-in-law Coralee Storch of Corsicana, two grandsons, Christopher Anderson of Corpus Christi, Carlton Anderson and wife Melodie of Denton, two granddaughters, Echo and Erin Storch of Dallas, four great granddaughters Rachel, Maegan and Carlyn Anderson of Denton and Madison Anderson of Vermont as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana and from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Sidney G. Hall III officiating. Internment will follow at the Cook-Walden Capitol Parks in Austin.
