William "Bill" George File of Follett, Texas passed from this earth to his heavenly home on June 28, 2016, after returning home from the hospital only hours before.

Bill was known for his wry sense of humor and wit. He would introduce himself as an "Unpaid Bill", and could deliver a punch line in such a solemn way, it left you wondering whether he was serious, or just pulling your leg. Even a short conversation with Bill could brighten your day.

He was born at home on the family farm 11 miles southwest of Follett to Alex and Katie (Faust) File on January 9, 1932. He was no stranger to hard work on the farm, and was raised with a strong work ethic and unwavering faith in God. He served in the United States Army. After being critically injured in a car/train accident, he met and married Dorothy (Baldwin) File on October 17, 1961. They had three daughters: Carolyn, Darla and Patricia. He continued to work the family farm, raising wheat, alfalfa, and large gardens, as well as a variety of livestock and poultry. Bill was also famous for his large watermelon crops. He served a church deacon, and was well known for helping those in town in whatever way he could. Bill died of Stage 4 cancer at the age of 84.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Katie File; twin sisters, who died at birth; and son-in-law, James Stacy Hawkins, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Follett; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Dale Green of Yukon, OK; daughter Carolyn File of Abilene, TX; daughter Patricia Hawkins of Oklahoma City, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Silas Scheer of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Dalton Green of Yukon, Quinten Hawkins, Morgan Hawkins, James Hawkins, Jr, and Bethany Hawkins all of Oklahoma City.
