Mrs. Berger, 69, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in an automobile accident at the 120-mile marker on Interstate 44, two miles east of Phillipsburg.
She was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Fort Benning, Ga., to Isaac Mack Yarbrough and Vashti Eudocia Hoyle Yarbrough.
She was married Dec. 26, 1947, to Richard H. Berger, who survives.
Mrs. Berger was a sales clerk. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Lamar Yarbrough.
Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Darrell Berger of Dubuque, Iowa, and Philip Berger and wife Diana of Lebanon; a daughter, Linda Sears and husband John of Chelsea, Okla.; three brothers, Thomas Yarbrough and wife Jean of Clearwater, Ala., Isaac Yarbrough and wife Kit of St. Louis and Benjamin Yarbrough and wife Barbara of Columbus, Ga.; three grandchildren, Emily Young of Rockford, Ill., Lydia Berger of Chicago and Theresa Berger of Dubuque, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Allen Daniel Young of Rockford, Ill., and Justice Berger of Dubuque, Iowa; and three step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda and Michael Gandschow.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church.
