Mrs. Doris Allison, 27-year-old Springhill woman, was instantly Killed at 5 a.m. Saturday in an accident caused when a tire burst as it hit a Louisiana and Arkansas railway track three miles south of Cotton Valley.

Mrs. Allison, employee of a sandwich shop near Cotton Valley, was thrown out of and pinned beneath the car. She suffered a crushed head and chest and died before her body could be removed from the wreckage, according to sheriff's officer and Dr. S.M. Richardson, Jr., acting coroner, who investigated the accident.

Four other occupants of the car suffered cuts and bruises in the mishap, which occurred as they were returning from the Woodlawn club in Bossier City. They were A.D. Roberts, driver of the car; F.A. Quickel, owner of the car; H.O. Day and Miss Lena Teutch. The tree men were employees of the paper mill at Cullen and Miss Teutch worked with Mrs. Allison at the sandwich shop near Cotton Valley.

Hits Bare Rail
The car struck the railway crossing several feet off the crossing boards which protect tires from the rails, and when the tire hit the bare rail it burst, according to officers.

The vehicle plunged into a ditch and as it turned over Mrs. Allison and Day, who were in the front seat, were thrown out. The vehicle fell onto Mrs. Allison and pinned her to the ground.

Mrs. Allison is survived by her husband, A.B. Allison; a daughter, Barbara Jean, nine nad a son, Terry, five; her mother, Mrs. Lillian Darnell of Selma; three sisters, Mrs. Josie Hamm of Conroe, Texas, Mrs. Edna Rachell of Shreveport and Mrs. Katie Madden of Princeton; five brothers, Marion Darnell of Shreveport police force, R.A. and Watson Darnell of Shreveport, Wildee Darnell of Alexandria and Ludd Darnell of the United States army.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Old Shongaloo church at 3 p.m. with burial at the church cemetery.
