Tonner, Corinne Christine (nee Ehmke)
Died peacefully Monday, July 4, after a short time in St. Mary’s Hospital, a few weeks before her 85th birthday.

She is fondly remembered and loved by her son Scott Tonner of Colorado, sister Helen Tomlin, of Hanover, brother Brian Ehmke (Marny), of Peterborough, and her many nieces, nephews and close friends. Predeceased by Peter Tonner, her brother John (Jack) Ehmke, and longtime friend and partner Gordon Thomas.


Born in Hanover on July 15, 1931, Corinne began her career in insurance in Toronto and moved to Kitchener to work as an insurance broker along with her husband Peter. Corinne has been President of the Waterloo County Woman’s Insurance Association as well as Director of the Canadian Association of Insurance Women, and she remained active in the Insurance community even after her retirement. Corinne loved to laugh, and always had a smile for everyone. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, the Blue Jays and Dixieland Jazz.


Corinne’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral in the chapel, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.


Corinne was a 3 time cancer survivor. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
