Melusine K. Algrim, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin. She was born June 5, 1926, in Copeland to Martin G. and Melusine K. (Trimpe) Nusser, Sr. While growing up on a family farm in southern Finney County, she attended the Prairie Lawn School and graduated from Garden City High School. She then attended St. John's College in Winfield. On Jan. 26, 1948, she married Irwin L. Algrim in Garden City. A homemaker, she briefly worked as a bookkeeper at McCallister Lumber Co. and as an auction clerk for Earl Barton Auction. She also helped in the Finney County Treasurer's Office for many years. After retiring, the Algrims owned and operated Ruste Wheel Antiques from 1981 to 1996. They also kept and displayed several antiques relating to Finney County and Garden City history. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, needlework, cooking and gardening. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City, Sight Saving, Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Carol Algrim; a granddaughter, Kelly Kimball-Potts; and a grandson, Seth Algrim. Survivors include three sons, Monte Algrim, Bruce Algrim and Arlyn Algrim, all of Garden City; two daughters, Melanie Algrim of Garden City and Janice Germann of Georgetown, Texas; a brother, Martin Nusser Jr. of Garden City; seven sisters, Opal Sroufe, Irene Gestenslager and Joanna Boles of Garden City, Rosetta Martin and Joyce Williams of Lubbock, Texas, Lena Adams of Winfield, and Edith Jones of St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lyle Stuehrenberg presiding. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
