George J. Staton, 66, died suddenly at his home in Brook Sunday morning at about 11 a.m., death being caused by a heart attack.

He was born in Brook, the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Staton and graduated from Brook high school with the class of 1915. For 29 years he lived at Mundelein, Ill., where he was a mail carrier. Following his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Staton moved to Brook in May of last year.

He was a member of the Congregational church, American Legion post at Mundelein and the Newton county chapter of the VFW. He was a veteran of World War I.

in 1918 he was married to Hazel Perkins of Goodland. Surviving with the widow is a daughter, Mrs. Lester Biere and a granddaughter, Andrea Biere of Waukegan, Ill.

Funeral services were held at the Hershman & Weston funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. J Shields White of the Methodist church officiating and burial will be at North Shore Garden of Memory, Waukegan, Ill.
