Mrs. Fernau was born in Belleville May 18, 1865, and was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Marie Semmler, nee Herr, both natives of Germany. She married Herman Fernau, a cigar maker in Belleville, and he died June 30, 1928.
Two children: Irvin and Miss Mrytle Fernau, preceded her in death.
She is survived by three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister and two brothers:

Mrs. Fernau was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Ladies' Aid Society of St. Paul's Evangelical Church.
