Donna P. Huntley, the daughter of Gunter and Sadie (DeWall) Petershagen was born on November 30, 1923 on the family farm in Hamlin County, South Dakota. They lived in that area where she attended rural schools, two years high school in Estelline, and two years high school in Castlewood, where she graduated. Donna then attended and graduated from Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls and received appointment to the Civil Service, moving to many places around the country.
While living in New York City, Donna met and married Albert Steinke in 1948. The couple had one daughter, Kathy in 1958. After her husband Albert died in 1959, Donna and Kathy moved back to South Dakota to live with her parents on the farm in Castlewood. Donna worked as an Administrative Assistant at Bartron Clinic.
In 1965 she married Ray Huntley, so she and her daughter moved to Watertown to live with him and his four daughters. Donna and Ray moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1978, where Donna enjoyed her retirement and being involved in the Methodist Church. The couple returned to Watertown in 2004 to be closer to their daughters.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Albert Steinke; one brother, Jerry Petershagen; her stepdaughter, Bonnie Huntley; and one sister-in-law, Liz Petershagen.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; her daughter, Kathy (Brian) Stierwalt of Spokane, WA; three stepdaughters, Gayle (Allen) Ferrell of Atlanta, GA, Vicki Mack and Debbie (Chuck) Engels all of Watertown; two sisters, Leona Fahey and Delores (Bud) Bohls of Castlewood, SD; two brothers, Robert Petershagen of Fremont, CA, and Richard (Janet) Petershagen of Ann Arbor, MI; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
