Esther Pedersen, the daughter of Jens and Clara (Petersen) Mikkelsen, was born on September 4, 1925 in Tyler, MN. She grew up on a farm near Tyler and attended country school. She later graduated from the Tyler High School.

Esther was united in marriage to Alfred Pedersen on May 28, 1947 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Ward, SD. In 1961 they moved to a farm near Tyler where they farmed and raised their family. In 1976 they retired from farming and moved to Phoenix, AZ. Alfred passed away in June of 1979 and Esther moved Slayton, MN.

In 1983 she moved to Fulda, MN and later to the Maplewood Assisted Living in Fulda. Esther passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her home at the age of 90.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN. She enjoyed gardening, reading, jigsaw puzzles and baking. Her favorite time was spent with her family and friends.

Survivors include her four children, Fred (Sharon) Pedersen of Alexandria, MN, Beth (Dale) Hardekopf of Fulda, MN, Jeff (Kitty) Pedersen of Colton, SD and Melody (Robert) Strouth of Worthington, MN; daughter-in-law, Tinker Pedersen of Maplewood, MN; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, Norman (Leona) Mikkelsen of Tyler, MN; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John Pedersen and sister, Norma Sanderson.

Funeral Services Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 25, 2016 with Rev. Steve Cook officiating. The organist is Roxanne Kremer. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at the Ruthton Cemetery Ruthton, MN.

In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the Hospice of Murray County.

Visitation will Sunday be from 4 to 6 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
