Bernhard III, Duke von Saxe-Meiningen was the first of four children born to Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen and his first wife Princess Charlotte of Prussia. Bernhard III married Princess Charlotte of Prussia on February 18, 1878 in Berlin, German Empire, they had one daughter, Princess Feodora of Saxe-Meiningen. Bernhard acceded the title Duke of Saxe-Meiningen upon the death of his father Georg II on June 25, 1914. Charlotte, Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen died on October 1, 1919 and Bernhard died 9 years later on January 16, 1928 at the age of seventy-six.
