Weldon Ray Reichel, 87, of Mustang, OK, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Arbor House Assisted Living Center in Mustang, OK.
Weldon was born at home on the Reichel farm in Detmold, TX on October, 26, 1933 to Charlie and Lydia Reichel. He was raised in the Thorndale, TX community and attended Detmold and Thorndale schools. He also attended Nixon Clay Business College in Austin, TX.
He joined the United States Air Force on March 13, 1953 and left with an Honorable Discharge on March 12, 1957. He made some of his best memories during those four years which he shared many with his family and friends. Weldon was married to Jane A. Cox on June 1, 1958 in Corpus Christi, TX.
He started working for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1960 as an electronics technician. In 1972 Weldon moved his family from TX to Mustang, OK where he began working at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. He enjoyed his work and was nicknamed “Ye Old Operator” and “PF King” by his fellow coworkers. After 34 years Weldon retired in 1994. He made many great memories and friends at the FAA and loved sharing stories of his programming days with all who would listen. In fact, he loved it so much that he returned to the FAA as a contract employee working for over ten years until his health started to decline. Soon after that he moved to the Arbor House Assisted Living Center where he loved the company of residents and staff, the food and playing dominoes. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents – Charlie and Lydia, four sisters – Gladys, Alma, Dora and Selma, and his wife, Jane, of 57 years. He is survived by two sons – Ronald Reichel and wife, Ginger, and Donald Reichel, 4 grandchildren – Chris Reichel, Greg Reichel and wife, Ashley, Courtney Reichel and Cameron Reichel. Also by 7 great grandchildren, Jaxen Reichel, Ava Reichel, Karmyn Reichel, Kambrie Reichel, Graham Reichel, Harper Reichel, Kyler Reimers and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Arbor House Assisted Living Center and Traditions Health Hospice for their exceptional care of Weldon.
