EARL SYLVESTER STRUPP, age 87, of Big Flats, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12th, 2013 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Sam Downey will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

He was born June 22, 1926 in the Town of Addison, WI to Joseph and Isabellia (nee Greiner) Strupp. He entered the military August 25, 1945 and was stationed in England and Germany. He was honorably discharge, February 2, 1947. He married Ruth, “Eileen”, Zernia on April 1, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI. They lived in Hartford and then Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Earl and Eileen moved their family to Kohlsville, Town of Wayne were they owned and operated a farm in 1966. Earl was President, owner and manager of the South Side Auto Body for over 30 years and Vice President of the Allenton Auto Body for 1 year until he retired in 1989. Earl and Eileen then moved to the Town of Big Flats, Adams Co. WI, where he managed Strupp’s Polled Hereford Farm before retiring.

In 1990 Earl became 1st Supervisor of the Town of Big Flats for 4 years. On 15 Nov 1994 Earl took on the position of Chairman of the Town of Big Flats and until he retired. He was a Captain of the Big Flats Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 200 and The Moose Lodge of West Bend and a member of the Salvation Army. He is a past President of the Allenton Snow Pacers Snowmobile Club, The Washington Co. Snowmobile Association, and the Black Jacket Company Riders Motorcycle Club of Milwaukee. He initiated the use of ATV trails in the Town of Big Flats, WI. He had raced motorcycles for few years on tracks in Wisconsin and in other states winning many trophies. He was also a past member of the Kohlsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Earl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. He loved to fishing, hunting, and farming. He enjoyed making a garden every year and was very proud that he didn’t have one weed in his garden. He was quick with a story or joke that always made people laugh and he loved to sing. He was very creative and loved making things by hand from things he had around the yard. Earl enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends and did so whenever anyone was in need.

Survivors include; his wife, Ruth “Eileen” Strupp, son, Douglas Strupp (Pat Strupp) of Allenton/Big Flats, WI. Two daughters; Marlene Ziemer of Hartford and Deborah Strupp of the Town of Big Flats. Three grandchildren, Carey Hodson, Dana (Chris) Hofmeister, and Chris Strupp. Great-grandchildren; Kayla, Abigail and Samuel Nagrocki, Heidi and Adler Hofmeister; great-great-granddaughter, Ella Lynn Olsen; Sister-in-laws, Audrey and Rita Strupp, Delores Fisher, Dorothy Zernia-Genet. Brothers-in-laws; Fred and Wallace Zernia and many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

Earl was presided in death by one son Ronald Joseph Strupp on Jan 31, 1996. Brothers: Werner, Harvey, Michael, Cornelius, and Joseph Strupp. Sisters: Reinalda Thelen and Alice and Cordelia Gundrum.
