Harry Edward Koester, son of Edward and Adeline (Hardiek) Koester was born on the family farm west of Logan in Norton County on Aug. 2, 1930.
He grew to manhood there and attended school at Champion Hill Rural School and Densmore High School. Harry served in the Navy for four years and later worked at the carpenter trade. He was married to Eva Lee Baker June 24, 1961 at Phillipsburg. Two children were born to this union, Kent and Kathi. He has been employed as an oil service pumper for about ten years and had been in the Ranch Creek Area near Broadus, Montana for the past five years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus and was active in the affairs of his church and community. He is survived by his wife, Eva Lee of Broadus, Mont, one son Kent and one daughter, both of the home.
He is also survived by his father, Edward Koester and one brother Ralph Koester and his wife, Irene, all of Logan; four sisters; Arlene Schick and husband Lee of Olathe; Mrs Dorothy Schneider of Phillipsburg; Mary Billips and her husband Don of Hill City; and Edna Riemann and husband Duane of Phillipsburg.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1959.
His death came January 3, 1973 near Gillette, Wyoming.
The funeral was conducted January 8th at St John's Catholic Church in Logan with Rev. Alvin Werth officiating.
The organist was Janice Lohrmeyer. Casket bearers were Lynn Schneider, Wayne Schneider, Bruce Schneider, Dale Riemann, Laverne Billips, Layton Billips and Rex Schick.
Military graveside services were conducted by Ralph De Fors American Legion Post of Logan. Internment was in Calvary Cemetery at Densmore.
