GUS SAVAS

Our dearly loved son, brother, uncle and friend, Gus Savas, passed away at home Friday, August 10, 1990, of heart failure.

Gus was born December 11, 1930, to Peter G. and Christine Makis Savas in Salt Lake City. Gus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he joined his uncle in operating the California Fruit and Produce Co., serving the produce needs of Bingham, Lark and Copperton. Later he operated the Cotton Club with his good friend, Daryl Mitchell. He also operated the Red Rooster Club. For the last twenty years he was at home helping with the family business, Grove Market, that he loved so much.He is survived by: His loving mother, three sisters, Mrs. Greg (Wilma) Roumpos, Mrs. Pete (Tula) Gamvroulas, and Mrs. Jerry (Joanne) Bauman, two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Nick and Dena Savas, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim and Patsy Savas. Also, several nieces and nephews that he loved as his own. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, Tony, George and Spero Savas.

"We love you, Gus. We will miss you."

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 1990, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 1 p.m. Friends may call Sunday, at Mackay Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 1990. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So., Salt Lake City, Utah.
