Joseph Mazzarella , 93, of 15 Dorman Ave., a loomfixer for the former Lorraine Manufacturing Co., Pawtucket, for 33 years before retiring in 1957, died Sunday at Mirian Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (DeNicola) Mazzarella .
Born in Tora e Piccilli, Caserta, Italy, a son of the late Mario and Orsola (Lautieri) Mazzarella , he came to Rhode Island in 1899, lived in North Providence for 82 years.
Mr. Mazzarella was a former member of Loggia Roma, and Loggia Vittoria, Order of the Sons of Italy.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Mignon of Narragansett; four sons, Oswald Mazzarella of North Providence, Ovidio Mazzarella of Norfolk, Va., Norbert Mazzarella of Pawtucket and Mario Mazzarella of Lincoln; a brother, Philip Mazzarella of North Providence; two sisters, Delia DiDario of Providence, Lillian Materia of North Providence, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church, Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
