Susan Talevich, noted music teacher and church organist, passed away March 2, 2016. She was 91. Susan was born in Anaheim on October 6, 1924. At her graduation from Anaheim High School in 1942, she played a piano solo at the Greek Theater in Pearson Park. Attended University of Redlands and UCLA graduating with a degree in Psychology in 1946. Married William "Bill" Talevich in 1947; two sons, Stephen and James. Attended First Presbyterian Church in Anaheim all her life, was hired as organist in 1945 at age 20, retired in 2009 after 64 years, outlasting 18 choir directors and 22 ministers. Completed Masters in Music at California State University at Fullerton in 1975. Taught music at four college: Cal State Fullerton, Cerritos College, El Camino College and Cypress College.

Throughout her life, in addition to her duties as a mother, organist and college instructor, Susan taught private lessons in her home to about 30 students per week. In her 75 years of teaching, from age 13 to 87, she taught well over a thousand students. In the process getting to know many hundreds of families in Anaheim and beyond. Many of her students have become professional musicians and teachers themselves. Susan loved her family, her church, and her students. Her love of music lives on in the thousands of lives she touched.
