Berniece Louise (Burgett) Jones was born January 15, 1915, in Bristow, Creek Co., Oklahoma, the 2nd of 8 children of Jess Albert and Susan "Susie" Violet (George) Burgett. Berniece grew up on the family farm, helping her mother with the household chores and with her siblings, and helping her father with the farm chores. She completed eight years of schooling, which at that time was considered to be a sufficient education for girls.

Berniece married three times. She first married Bernie Bridwell in Oklahoma. By 1935, Berniece and Bernie had moved to Redlands, California, where she worked as a housekeeper and orange packer until the start of WWII, when she went to work in the aircraft industry in San Diego, California. After her marriage to Bernie ended, Berniece moved to Washington State where she met Walter Plotz. They were married in Butte, Montana on June 9, 1948. She and Walter spent many years working in the fruit industry, packing apples and working in the apple orchards of Yakima, Washington, and working in the orange groves of California. Berniece's third marriage was to Forrest Jones. She and Forrest spent their retirement years in Dillion, Montana, and enjoyed visiting family while traveling in their motorhome. Berniece was an avid card player, with canasta, cribbage, and pinochle being her favorite card games. Berniece passed away at the age of 82 and was survived by her husband, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and many nieces and nephews. [RS]
