Vincent Gerhard Veltrop, 76, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1926 in Westphalia, the son of Gerhard Veltrop and Adaline Scheppers Veltrop. He was married on October 14, 1948 in Jefferson City to Lucille Clara Wekenborg who died February 8, 1990.
He was employed in earlier years with Home Tyler Construction Company, and later as a self-employed brick mason. He was instrumental in building many area Baptist churches.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Robert J. Veltrop and Leon V. Veltrop, both of Jefferson City; and Terry L. Veltrop, Lohman; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Regina Talken, Ella Stegeman, and Lorraine Kempker, all of Mexico, Missouri; and Clare Jane Lewis, Cuba, Missouri; and a brother, George Veltrop, Holts Summit.
Services were 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City. The Rev. Gregory L. Higley officiated. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home were a prayer service was conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorials were designated to the American Cancer Society.
